Trail Map and Self-Guided Tree Tour

You can download and print a trail map and self guided tree tour to take with you for a walk in the woods. There are 15 stops on the self guided tree tour. Saddler's Woods is a 25 acre site and it takes approximately one and a half hours to complete the tree tour at a moderate pace.

The color trail map and tree tour are 4 pages of 81/2 x 11 paper, landscape orientation. The documents should be printed two sided and on a color printer for best visibility of trails.

Tours and Programs
Tours are offered by volunteers for individuals, schools, and community groups for a donation at the rate of $1 per visitor per hour for a basic orientation tour.

Other educational programs either in the woods or at your facility are also offered. Programs such as tree identification studies, children's programs, and presentations for clubs or schools can be tailored to specific interests and length of program. Fees are dependent on group size, duration of program, and supplies needed.

Volunteer restoration and community service programs are facilitated at no charge.

Guidelines for Use
Saddler's Woods Conservation area is open from Sunrise to Sunset. For your own safety, and so all may enjoy the woods please:

  • Plan ahead; wear appropriate attire and bug spray.
  • Use only established, marked trails.
  • Leave no trace, take only photos, leave only footprints.
  • Do not alter or disturb soil, wildlife or vegetation.
  • Leash your dog and clean up after your pet.

  • Motor Vehicles
  • Motorcycles, ATVs
  • Campfires
  • Fireworks
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol Possession or Consumption


For a complete listing of permitted and prohibited activities view the Deed of Conservation Easement Document passed in 2003 available here or in the Haddon Township Municipal Office (note: when the easement was drafted, the property was known as Macarthur Tract).

The Haddon Township Environmental Commission is responsible for the management of the site to ensure all activities comport with the conservation values defined for the easement area.

Activities Applications
If you would like to host a tour or an activity in the woods an activities application must be submitted to Peter Kroll, Chair of the Haddon Township Environmental Commission, EnviroComm@HaddonTwp.com

An application is required for groups greater than 10. If your group size is less than 10 a formal application is not required, however the courtesy of an application is appreciated as it helps to track site usage. Please submit your completed applications to Peter Kroll 14 days in advance of the start date. For repeated activities, applications must be renewed annually.

Walking from Collingswood Patco station:
approximately 1.3 Miles

As you exit the station turnstiles, exit through the right set of doors, walk under the tracks past the newspaper stands and cross the street. Take a left walking along S. Atlantic Avenue with the wall of the PATCO train tracks to your left. You should pass Dill Ave. (If you pass Lees Ave. you are going the wrong way). Go 7 blocks. Take a right onto W. Cuthbert Boulevard passing a Pool supply business on the corner( do not cross the street). Go 8 blocks. You will pass a 7-11, an Acme and a High School on your left and Newton Lake Park on your right. Just after Newton Lake Park head up the incline to the light at the intersection of W. Cuthbert and MacArthur Blvd. This is the 8th block. Cross Cuthbert Boulevard onto MacArthur Boulevard. Pass a Shell, a car wash and a library. Use the cross walk at the library to cross MacArthur Boulevard. Continue down MacArthur Boulevard. The woods are on your right, behind two tan well pump buildings. A woods trail entrance is located behind the smaller tan building.

Taxi from the Collingswood, PATCO Station:

Destination Haddon Township Branch Library, 15 MacArthur Boulevard. Tell them to drop you off at the library. Use the cross walk at the library to cross MacArthur Boulevard. Continue down MacArthur Boulevard. The woods are on your right, behind two tan buildings. A woods trail entrance is located behind the smaller well pump building.

Driving From Routes 38 /70: Take NJ 38 to NJ 70 East. Continue on Marlton Pike / NJ-70 E for almost a mile. Take the Cuthbert Boulevard South ramp toward Collingswood , Oaklyn, Haddon Township. Merge onto Cuthbert heading South. At the sixth traffic light get into left turn lane and turn left onto MacArthur Boulevard. (Corner of Shell station and Wachovia Bank). Continue down MacArthur Boulevard just past the entrance to the Westmont Plaza. Saddler's Woods is on your right behind two tan buildings. Parking is available on the street. A trail entrance is located behind the smaller well pump building.

Driving From I-295 points North: Take exit 29 towards Collingswood. Take a left at the bottom of the exit ramp to the light at the intersection of the White Horse Pike: Turn Right at light onto the White Horse Pike heading West. Continue down the White Horse Pike. After you cross Nicholson road (the seventh traffic light), get in the right turn lane. Take a right at the eighth traffic light onto Cuthbert. (Kayla's Florist & Jiffy Lube on corners). Continue down Cuthbert. Get into the right hand lane as you pass SuperFresh shopping center. At the first light, take a right onto MacArthur Boulevard. (Corner of Shell station and Wachovia). Continue down MacArthur Boulevard just past the entrance to the Westmont Plaza. Saddler's Woods is on your right behind two tan buildings. Parking is available on the street. A trail entrance is located behind the smaller well pump building.

Driving From I-295 points South: Take exit 29B towards Collingswood. Turn Right at light onto the White Horse Pike heading West. Continue down the White Horse Pike.
